What am I doing wrong....:shrug:

This is my concept for my Races of Middle Earth challenge and i'm trying to color it right now because i figured i'd give it a try....could anyone here give me some crits as to what the hell i'm doing wrong or what i'm doing right...it doesn't look right to me for some reason.....any help is appreciated...thanks:thumbsup:

Go blue! Or purple! ;) -Think about the little pet elephant thingy Gary Oldman has in 5th Element!:cool:

You don't have a good value range. The body is pretty much one tone without much variation between light and dark. Add some darker tones and shadows to augment your highlights

Little5points made me think of something else: instead of just hightlighting and toning down the details, try also doing that to the whole body and the whole head.

Little5points> thank you for your input...I will work on the values today...my first time doing a digipainting so i'm not used to it quite yet....hopefully i'll get better..:thumbsup:

jussing> I like the idea of throwing the blue and purple in there...it always helps to get other ideas....I was thinking more earthy tones but you kinda sparked another idea in my head...thanks:thumbsup:
