Maybe the pic is too small, but the ring is too big, or the ground is too small :p

Tommi
01-12-2003, 01:18 PM
Yep, the relation between ground texture and ring object is not right. It looks like a giant ring.
I think, too, that the ring is too tall, but I do not know the original. I like it's surface though. Maybe you could add some caustics... would look cool

NemesisFIN
01-12-2003, 01:35 PM
OK... thanks everybody... There is caustic, but some reasong it doesn't exist...

Here it is update:
http://koti.mbnet.fi/nemo123/David_Here/theonering_test2.jpg

It is now beter? Yes i know wood is too bumpy and image is crispy ( Antialising is low, reduce render time) still it takes hours to render with P3 450 mhz...

Entangle

I meant the image. The ring still looks big compared to the floorboards.

NemesisFIN

Ok.... but here is last night work.... I'm pretty disappointed of this render, because it doesn't look gold and its too dark and....
it takes to render something like 6 hours :)

i teaked it on PS7:

Look at your highlights. They are white.
I noticed that the ones from the movie is more yellow(gold). Maybe changing your light color to gold will help a bit?

iNFERNiS

looks good to me.
Remember that they adjusted the colors of the movie after it was shot. In this case, a yellow/orange tint.

NemesisFIN
01-13-2003, 05:18 PM
Yes, of course did change colors at film, but it shows the way to go...

i think your ring is too glossy, or wet looking. try turning down the glossyness.

DUDE!
I'm a big metal fan and am always trying to get it right.
Your gold is awesome! Great job.
My gold always looks like the ones that you did before too.
I hope you post a tutorial or something. I would really like to know how it was done.
I believe that credit should be given to those that deserve it. I'll always say I learned it from you if I ever use it.
Once again, good job!

NemesisFIN
01-14-2003, 05:48 PM
Thanks man.... Should I make ring tutorial (include scene, lighting, modeling and material, rendering)?

Fingolfin
01-14-2003, 06:21 PM
Up to you.
I'm more interested in the gold texture.
As you have shown in that gold skull...once you get the texture down, you can use it for anything.
Let us know where the tutorial is once you've made it.
Thanks.
