View Full Version : Realistic mesh-built flames
Anton Andriesh 01-11-2003, 09:53 PM Does someone remember there was a thread here about making a very realistic flame with mesh? The author posted an example of his flame in .max format available for downloading.
Now, when I faced a same problem I cannot find that thread. I'm sure someone should have that example.
It would be great someone to share it :) Thank you!

Being a fairly new to this forum I've know idea about the thread you are talking about. However, if you have any knowledge of using SimCloth you can reletively easily simulate flame movement. I've used this method before, and seems to work fine.
If you wish to try using SimCloth I can email you one of my flames.
I'll be interested in hearing any other methods for making flames.
Cheers

Anton, i can't remember the thread, but i do think i have the file on my home PC, if u want i can email it to you. From memory the guy did it using a lathed curve for the basic flame shape and then two different soft selections with animated noise modifiers.

Thank you for help! To be precise, I forgot to say it was a bonfire. A very realistic bonfire flame. Not a candle.
