View Full Version : Batch render problem. Urgent.
wierdteaparty 06-08-2006, 07:09 AM Ok I have my scene set up and what not im rendering with mental ray only using final gather. my comp specs: athlon 64 3800 1 gig of ram geforce 6800.
Anyways on to my dilema whent I render in the render view it takes about 2 minutes to do a frame, but when I do a batch render I left it there for about 10 minutes and it was still at zero.
Any tips on how to make the batch render work at a reasonable pace would be much apreciated.

I dont know exactly what might be your problem, but I do know one quick solution to the problem. Theres a MEL script that allows you to do sort of a batch render within the render view window. Its on highend3d and is called xFrame, if you dont have time to troubleshoot it might be a solution for you.
Are you doing command line rendering or rendering in maya?

I'm just rendering using maya, I'll use this xframe bit sounds like the most logical solution. Damn I'm dieing to finsh havent slept in like 30 hours.

take a look at your render log. there could be a fault in your scene or something.
its in youd documents/maya7/rendelog... ( or something)
else... try to optimise your scene and delete the history ...

Thanks cg_joe for this hint!
I just had the same batch render problem (using SSS in MR) - asking myself, why isnīt this software able just to render one frame after the other? and Why is not a hero out there to write a little script like...
... xFrame.mel!

I'm getting this error
// Error: file: D:/Program Files/Alias/Maya 7.0/scripts/others/renderWindowPanel.mel line 568: Failed to open output file: 7.0/projects/default/scenes/2007/get_hip/renders/images/gethip07animate/gethip07animate.0002.tga //
while using xFrame2.mel. I checked that line in the renderWindowPanel.mel file, but I can't make any sense of it:
renderWindowEditor -edit -writeImage $fileName $editor;
Help, anyone?
Have you setup you project?
This looks like it's looking into default directory?
The problem could be in the mel script itself that it's just not supporting mental ray.
If this mel doesn't work try this one:
http://www.highend3d.com/maya/downloads/mel_scripts/rendering/mental_ray/2132.html
renderview extension does render separate frames, or sequence, from user interface and much more.

No... I'm aware of my project settings. I altered that line because it wasn't necessary to show the rest of the directories.
I've already tried bc, but I think the file is corrupt or I'm just not using it right. I posted about it here:
http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?p=4517399#post4517399
And going by what Ohlda said, he used MR and xFrame together so their shouldn't be a conflict.

I was suggesting RenderView Extension 1.7.0 mel script.
But your error says that it can not output to directory, which lead me to believe that something might be wrong with directories permissions or setup of where it should put the images. In your output directory there is no full windows path, so I thougt this might be it.
Check your setup project directories just for any case.
Are you saving your final gather map or you are recreating it?
Also do you have higher maya installed (8.x) on the same machine?

I was re-creating it because I'm animating.
And yeah sorry, I was tired when I looked at your post last night. RenderView Extension worked and it looks like a much better plug-in than the others :)
