View Full Version : is there a cache option for video playback
Hey guys,
Is there away to speed up video playback in a maya view?
My DV tiff sequence of about 90 frames long lags as I try scrub the timeline…
is there a cache option for video playback anywhere maybe?
Thanks

Maya will automatically cache your image sequence if you bring in your image sequence as an imagePlane. If you're using your tiffs as a texture on a 3d object, I don't think there is any way to make it faster beyond getting a faster processor. You might want to consider converting your files to iff files--I hear they are easier for Maya to decode. Also, your hard drive might be the bottleneck so converting to jpg might be worth a try too.

actually, there seems to be an option to cache images used as textures on objects. :)
in the file node, check for a group called Interactive Sequence Caching Options and check Use Interactive...
just remember to set a sequence end time.
