View Full Version : Error with MiSSS mentralRayTexture
dragonspectrum 06-06-2006, 05:12 AM Hi,
Something is driving me insane that I can't quite seem to figure out.
I'm using MiSSS Fast SKin with the new script so that the light map automatically links, but everytime I do ANYTHING to the shading network I get:
// Warning: (Mayatomr.Shader) : mentalrayTexture1: no texture file referenced //
// Error: (Mayatomr.Output) : file error: //
which makes maya unresponsive for 10 seconds every single time...
It's supposed to be stored in memory, what's it doing? I've tried putting \sssMap
C:\ssMap
and putting nothing there as well.
I'm using Maya 7
Any ideas on how to stop that?
Thanks!

What new script is this?
Also, can we see a screen of your shader network?

Hi there,
It's a script that the creator posted up here:
http://www.lamrug.org/resources/skintips.html
createAndAssignShader.mel (http://www.lamrug.org/resources/code/createAndAssignShader.mel)
About the shading network, here's a jpg. It's just default but I still get there error. It gets considerably slower if I started adding custom maps. By slower I mean the response time while Maya looks for this supposed texture.
thanks for responding, would love to fix this.

I'm not sure what that script's supposed to do. Not only did it not do anything automatically, after I manually set up the network, it crashed with the same error you're receiving.
Restoring backups now & resuming as normal. :shrug:

SCRATCH THAT!
Assigned the shader using the RMB marking menu & it's all good now! It even added this nifty expression to the lightmap texture width & height! :bounce:

Yeah it's pretty cool. Be weary though, if you're using maya 7.0, you'll have to replace two variables in the script. I already did it, so I'll just attach the file.
Any ideas about that error? :)

I am using Maya 7. Didn't have any trouble with it. I think the error was caused because the texture wasn't set to 'Writable'. Of course, assigning it the way it was meant to be assigned makes this a non-issue.
