View Full Version : Batch Rendering
thisishowerock 06-06-2006, 04:39 AM Hi,
I am trying to batch render my scene. I have a camera set up which I want to render from. I have selected this camera in the render settings. When I goto batch render it will render all frames selected from the perspective view before rendering from my camera. Is there somewhere else I need to select my camera or turn off the perspective so it only renders the camera I have selected in the render settings.

Hey there,
This happens a lot in Maya, an easy way to guarantee that this doesn't happen is to select the cameras you don't want to render with, for example persp. In the attribute editor, perpShape should be selected, scroll down to output settings and uncheck the "renderable" button for all the cameras you don't want to render.
Make sure the one you want to render with has the checkbox checked.
Should work after that.

Assuming you're using Maya 7, normally when you create a camera, the Renderable attribute on the persp camera gets switched off automatically.
Also, note that the functionality of the drop-down list of cameras in the Render Settings has changed in Maya 7. This list no longer selects the camera to be rendered, rather it allows you to change the various output settings of all the cameras in your scene. For example, you can have 'top' selected in that list when you batch render, but the top camera will never render until you switch on its 'Renderable' attribute.
Alias really should have exposed the Renderable attribute more clearly considering how important this has become in v7.
