View Full Version : Making a drawing more.... 3D ?

Hi everyone! I'm new here..

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this.. but I need help!

I've made a drawing with Adobe Illustrator (just simple lines) and now need to find a way to make the drawing more.. 3D but without the use of shading/lighting. It needs to be made 3D only by the use of more lines.. if that makes sense.

Can anyone help on this issue at all?

Look into cross contour drawing. Basically, several lines running over the volumetric form of whatever you're trying to depict give the illusion of 3 dimensions. You can play with the overall stress, thickness, and density of the lines to give the illusion of light and shadow. In addition, you can always hatch lines to depict shadow as well.
