Hehe. I have that set also (the purple-color binder), so maybe it's not that rare. :)

I'm pretty sure you're missing a box though. We've got 5 binders for the manual set.

:)

The reason I delcared it rare is because.

1. Nobody else is selling this
2. You cant find this bookset anywhere unless you were one of the original owners
3. When I bought this bookset 4-5 years ago it only came with 4 binders. I'm not sure what is missing.
4. It might be a lower version of Maya but the basic fundementals are there, if your not sure how to do something exactly, the new books won't tell you that, this is like an Encylopidea for Maya.

How were you able to aquire this bookset?

Used to you could order it from Alias|Wavefront for a fee. It's the printed PDF's that ship with the software.

from one dusty closet to the next. These things aren't even worth the cost in shipping (which will be expensive)

Most I think are from 3. There's a breakdown of what is from what version on the ebay auction page.

I'm not sure what's missing either. I'll let you know when I get in to work tomorrow though. We've got 5 separate binders so it's a possibility that one is a duplicate, or it's the box for the additional Unlimited features.

How were you able to aquire this bookset?

We've got all the printed manuals for Maya from after it's first release. Platinum maintenance does have it's benefits. At least until recently where all manuals are now included with the box in PDF format (or through download), since version 6 I believe.

I personally think it takes longer to go through them to find what you need than it does to ask Autodesk or look it up online nowadays. :)

Just following up with more accurate info.

These could be Maya 2 or Maya 3 manuals. I think we threw out our Maya 3 manuals. All of the manuals we have with this look (the muted purple corrugated cardboard boxes) are for Maya 2. We've got 5 boxes - the fifth box is the CD set with all of the software installs. It's the Unlimited set.

cheers.
