View Full Version : lens effects behind a wall?
Tepelstreeltje 06-05-2006, 04:47 PM Hi to all,
I'm currently working on a movie where i use lens effects.
The problem: The lens effect is also visible even when there's (for example) a plane standing in front of the light. I would like 3DS max to hide the effect when the light itself, isn't visible , wich is logic to me. I don't understand why he keeps showing the effect.
I use, 3DS max 7 and Brazil R/S
Thnx a lot

Check the 'Glow behind' option, if this fails, change the occlusion value of the lens fx(which are evil)

Well, they are not just plain 'evil', they are 'eeeevil'!
I prefer doing them in post, in AE or Photoshop, but it's more a mtter of taste I guess.

I guess your right.
But how can i get a LED effect with an omnilight?
I'll post a render soon so you'l see what i'm talking about.
Thnx !

I woud use an object with a selfilluminated material, some renderers support that in a better way than scanline does.
There is a plugin called lightMesh which you could try out
