View Full Version : Character: Chimp

few years ago I saw pictures of character from Oddwordl: Stranger game. I liked it very much, it have lot of personality and was created very well. From this time I had a similar character in my head. It's something between human and ape. I'd like to try on this chimp to model it properly (polyloops, anatomy etc), try a zbrush displacement, maya fur and after all render him. I hope I'll finish it. The body is now simple and sharp, I'm studiing muscle references, so it will be redone in most parts (back, hands, muscles on the front side).

Here is bigger picture with more wires and angles

Tell me what you think, thanks :)

I played little bit with the hat, applied mapping and now it's ready for zbrush

Hi, after a long silece, I come back to my chimp model. I started again with a big heavy shoe. He`s kind of hunter, but he`s hunting big creatures :) . So, take a look and let me know what do You think

Hello, for a long time there wasnt progress, I have a job. But slowly I`m continuing, I have finished pants and body and body zbrush pass. Now I`m working on a mechanical glasses of chimp, little bit cyberpunk I think :)

Well, i haven't seen the oddworlds character you're modeling from.
But, have you looked as some real gorilla pictures? Just to help with the anatomy? They have alot of creases around the nostrils. (Just what i feel.)

The accessories look awesome! :)

Hello guys, thanks for comments! I know about bugs in anatomy, but I liked to create this tlittle bit more cartoonish. For example, here You can see the original Oddworld character

ANd heres some weekend work, not finished the top wear! :). No zbrush pass yet, I have no time to test render it now.

The face needs some work, especially the mouth imho..

but everything else rocks, although you could give the folds on the trousers some work..
