the black parts of him don't seem too black. Textures look pretty strange

As bobert said, all the colors on spawn himself are very very washed out. Resaturate the textures and rerender, it'll look loads better. Also, about the cape, it doesnt really look like cloth it looks like a piece of drying/cracking clay......
