View Full Version : Particle/Fluid cache overwrite
baran 06-05-2006, 05:24 AM Hi...
am sorry about this long question.
We've an Idea about creating some presets of snow falling, rain, smoke, dust, etc. This is something like a shelf button. Just click the rain button, then the rain will be created in the scene along with the cache data. So there is no need to simulate. Also if we do any change in that, the cache data will be overwritten ONLY the modified part values. Is it Possible to overwrite the cache data at some values without re-simulating the whole rain.
OR
Is there any other technique to do this:rolleyes:
looking forward solutions...
Thanx in advance.

You could break the rain into layers (each layer with its particle system). This way you could update just the layers you want without affecting others.
I wrote a script (which I called precipitationMaker) that generates high quality rain/snow rigs with three clicks :)
You can have a look at it at
http://www.lucavfx.com/research/precipmaker/index.html
But you still need to cache data before rendering.

Thanks!
I wish I could, but unfortunately I can't release it for free because It's part of my portfolio for when I apply for new jobs.
