well...not having used Maya since 1.5 realy, I think I used 2.0 for 2 weeks..I'm trying to make a comeback in Maya 4.0

I took on the fun task of the Joan of Arc tutorial (written for Max) and have been having fun learning Sub-Ds in Maya while translating the tutorial to Maya terms, lol

anyway, before I dive into this months Challenge, I thought I'd post my Head so far. I'm not hapy with the tie in of the ear... I sorta tossed it on so I could post this...and From the front, lol her ears can hardly be seen... so those are two things I'm aware of...

but, any CC so far are greatly appreciated. Please click the Link to see a large 1024x768 image to get a better look

good work.

yeah... uh... that tutorial... well... i dunno. not so cool. i just did a head that way myself, just trying different methods & i also had to try & translate it into maya terms. i mean it works for the guy who wrote the tutorial; that finished joan of arc pic is badass. but that method just seemed to be a lot of extra work & generally just an all around pain in the ass. i still think the one on Arild Wiro's site is the best one. but that's just me.

ok sorry --- ranting over  lol

your head looks pretty good. i think the problem with the ears is that the fronts don't turn in toward the head enough.

the only qualms i see with it is not a lot of definition going into the edge of the lips & too harsh a crease going down the side of the mouth. the nose looks a little funky by the tip too, but i can't really make it out well. any chance we can see a software rendered version? other than that, it's pretty nicely done!

keep up the good work
:surprised -ill

thanks for the notes ill_logic..... I realized that my Front shot in that image is actualy from the perspective view and that a True Front Shot, you can see the ears just fine... I'll toss a software render up

oh, and I'll try out that head tutorial you mentioned on my next head, I just went and found it.
