View Full Version : Races of Middle Earth - Creature - Lowdown
Joel Hooks 01-11-2003, 01:54 AM This guy is a Rahkmar. Basically a working creature that falls someplace in between a sled dog and an Ox. Some are trained as mounts for war because they are reknowned for their endurance, ferocity, and unwielding strength.
Hopefully the end result will not be so cartoonish, but a little more on the real side.

Just running through some ideas..... I don't know if the "plunger people" is a valid tolkien reference...

Ya, That's grass. It was at first some hairs, but I got a little carried away. I was thinking hair like on a hyena's back would be interesting and then I made it into a grass/thatch saddle, but I might skip it al together in favor of leather saddle. I am thinking , if time is permitting, I might try for a rider also.

that second drawing up there was what I thought could ride him. Sort of a primitive race that prefers thatch saddles... ;)

I think I am going to pause on the head and work out the body. I could add more detail, but I'd like to flesh out the overall picture. Having a great time.

Nothing terribly exciting. Didn't have a whole lot of time for working today... It started leaning itself towards being a cow. I may yet give it running legs, haven't really decided yet..

Switched gears to wings to finish this model. Such a faster modeler.

I think I've taken out most of the "cow". I am settled on the basic form, time to start cutting some detail.

Yes, this is looking good lowdown...your organic modeling is improving with every model. Another one loving the wings eh...hmmm, I might have to take a look at that program. Back to the Loom!!! :wip: :wip:
