View Full Version : Photoshop, touch-screens and graphics pens, oh my
Zarcom 06-04-2006, 11:20 AM Would I be able to achieve this if I was to get a touch-screen and a graphics pen??
also, would this work or would this be extremely slow?? will I be requiored to "poke" allot of times if I was to get a touch-screen, I really dont want to get a tablet, I prefer one with an lcd feature, and those are LOTS AND LOTS of money.
Thanks in advance.

I would personally recommend trying an LCD tablet screen before buying one (as you say they are expensive).
My issue with them is that they do not feel very ergonomic. I either get a sore back or a sore neck. If you work on it in an upright position (like a normal monitor) you have to hold your arm out and upright which will give you a sore back after a few hours. If you have it laying down, you get a sore neck as you have to bend your neck to see it. They are also quite 'fat' and even laying down they sit quite high.
They are quite accurate, they do have a very good tracking resolution and you wont have to 'poke' repeatedly.
Your workflow would not be slow...they are definitely quicker than using a mouse.
Anyway, I would prefer using a standard tablet any day. Once you get used to them, you will find that they are suprisingly accurate. You just look at a point on screen and your had moves the stylus (tablet pen) to the corresponding spot on the tablet. It really becomes second nature.
Another disadvantage I find is that on an LCD tablet, your hand obscures part of your image whereas on a normal tablet there is nothing in the way.
I'm not trying to discourage you from buying one, just keep these things in mind if you decide to.

Whipyo, thanks for pointing that out, that WOULD be a great struggle for me if I was to purchase a lcd tablet. As a person with a disability (legally blind), that would suck if I had to keep my arms at a certan distant.
I probably wont get both eaither, im sure drawing a picture and using a scanner would work just as great.
Anywayz, im going to sleep, thanks for all of yor help.
