View Full Version : "Granny's Cat" - 3D Short Film
mahir 06-03-2006, 04:26 PM This is a group project we did at Bournemouth University earlier this year. There were 4 of us in the group and the assignment took about 3 months to complete. We used XSI for all modeling and animation and Shake for compositing. I hope you enjoy it. Any comments you can offer are most welcome!

I like the look of it.
The cat animation was great !
Granny, looked a bit like she's moving in slow motion though, I guess she's supposed to be old and move slowly, but there's just a bit of tweaking needed to make her move in a bit more lifelike manner.
Overall, excellent :)

I love your work. The colors and textures are so wonderful. I couldn't quite figure out the eggs in the tree. I had anticipated the cat coming unraveled maybe by the bird. Just my thoughts, but I enjoyed your short very much.
Keep up the good work!

Glad you liked the cat's animation we focused a lot of our time on him. Maybe that's why granny's movements aren't as polished. That's something we might take another look at some time.

It took us awhile to decide on the colour scheme and get the look we wanted, and texturing was quite a tedious process, but in the end it was worth it I think. The egg tree was one of the quirky things about the piece (a living woollen cat is quite quirky too right?) that hints that granny isn't your typical old lady.
Thanks for the compliments!

The animation needed to be more punchy...
Granny is slow as has already been mentioned.
The birds movements are too mechanical and simple, but that could be just a style you were going for?
The cat needs work, it is quite ridged in places and overall slow. You have some very nice touches, the butt wiggle for one. He needs to be more enrgetic to contrast more against the old woman. Study more cats :)
The story is quite good.
