ambient-whisper
01-21-2003, 09:35 PM
ok. im going to break the rules and do a race that already exists. i dont see much done on the skin changers known as beornians.
heres the concept. in my modeling sessions i might break from it a little and add some elvish elements.? dunno. anyway going to start now.

( his left frearm/wrist area thats turning bearish looks odd in the concept. i think i managed to fix it but this is the last digitized pic i have of him. )

( not sure if i mentioned it earlier but just so nobody asks later ill be using clay/ wings3d/ and mirai for this.

Hey martin :p

chi
01-22-2003, 10:15 PM
the position of the front left arm...the one coming straight down seems wierd...it looks like it should be bent under this creatures massive wieght...other than that not much else to say...itll get better

though taking a second look at it it seem kind of right as most of his weight is supported by the right arm and the axe....but it still throws me off

lildragon

Hey ambient, looks like a good start. Just wondering why you chose to model in that position? Do you not intend to rig this character (keep it as a static peice just for the challenge) or have you choose this because it will be the characters default position it will spend most of its time in? Also, I know its early days yet but the fingers on hte axe hand are looking a little thin. Anyway, looks good, good luck with it.

l_farley13_l
01-28-2003, 05:07 PM
Looks wonderfull - I'm assuming the fingers will be ajusted as the structure is perfected? The muscles look great - very cool to see a non symetrical mesh (I assume it's not boned) from the start!

I'l agree though that the weight distribution is confusing - trying it out myself, it feels more like a lineback lowering his shoulder to charge - straight arm but a more lowered shoulder. More active than the left arm portrays. Looking forward to more!

ambient-whisper
01-28-2003, 06:39 PM
DrAdamDinosaur: im modeling him already posed because its a pretty hard thing to do:) im trying to challenge myself here. i got no intention to rig him. though i might rig parts so that when i do the final turnaround i could bring him to life by making him breathe..and maybe blink. dunno. but thats about it.

l_farley13_l: yup. the fingers i modeled skinny because of the way wires are handled in clay. and the fact that i cant define clusters yet...so i cant hide certain parts of the model. i will have to bring him to another application to do that. nope. hes not boned yet, and probably never will.
im still playing around with weight distrobution. what i think ill do is make the back a bit larger and bring his right leg/foot a bit forward so he can use that a bit to support himself too.

Bud wicked update man, love the accessories starting to come out! As mentioned b4 fix them fingers :p but anyhoo what's with the turnaround? something in the code making it stop? or did you render only half the frames needed? If anything I think I still have it kicking around somewhere, let me know

salud

ambient-whisper
02-09-2003, 09:19 AM
the reason i made it stop is because the back isnt detailed yet..so having to render those frames would seem like a waste..

and with so little frames as it is. ( 35 ) i didnt want to make it "jump" when it reached the end :) so i took that functionality out :) ill make a full turnaround when i work more on the back area :D

the time spent looking up the definition could have been spent posting an update of the foot :)

tsuru
02-20-2003, 05:05 PM
In reference to the hand that hasn't been made yet :)

So far it looks like this hand is going to have the palm fully touching the ground. So far this character's pose seems like it is about to spring into action. To me it would seem more nature for this hand to only have part of the the palm touching the ground... the part where the fingers meet the hand, along with the thumb...maybe even some digging in of the fingers :)

I know you haven't created this part yet... but without an update in so long my imagination runs wild and I have to start commenting on things that aren't even there yet :)

I have enjoyed your style and creativity for some time now Ambiant Whisper. And with this creation you have again really impressed me.Very interesting creation already.A true Warrior creature of LOTR. Details and more details are in,a must in my book. It'sa very fine creation and I hope you can get him to the finish line in time.If not I at least hope to see him get finalised in the WIP Forum.

Bravo,very well done.:applause:

Hi A-W- !

What software is this Clay you're workin' in? It seems like a test version, like Wings. Can I download it freely, to take my turn?
Ah, yeah and why do you use multiple packages for the making?

The face are too human compared to the proportions and claws, IMHO.
