As expected your two concepts are excellent,really fitting for the lands of Middlearth. The hangly would be a real treat to see and eventually animated by someone with jschleifer's talent. I can see it now in camouflage crawling all around the trees,matching the bark.

You better look real careful,is it there on that tree...... Or on that one??? Yes a very nice creature.

CAALCUUM...........I think is just as impressive. That will be fantastic to see in full color and 3D..... And knowing you OZ there maybe even another wonderful concept coming soon,if we are lucky.

I'll be back again and again to see you at work OZ,it's soooo very fun to see you create.

You have the CAALCUUM control the hanglyas it's pet........a leash for the Caalcuum to control the hangly and collar around the hangly. I know I ask too much,but the thoughts I have I must let you know,maybe you can use one of them in a way.

Travelling all the middle earth making exchanges with the other members of them race.....sometimes they sell some item to the humans or to the elf.

A watercolor draft study of the image mood and colours. Sometimes i use natural media paintings before start with cg....there is a more instinctive impact .......I "feel" better the scene i got only in my mind....ad i need to put it on paper,or making a clay model to feel it alive. After this process of mind cleanig...everything looks more clear,and i can start with CG,working faster and better.I believe that the a good and extensive"pre visualization" is the key of a well balanced model / image.

I like the teeth and gums very much.The uneveness of the teeth and gums are done great.I also like the raised gums around each tooth,that kind of extra intricate detail is what makes work like yours so very great.:thumbsup: ........Including that chipped one in the front,it all looks top notch.

The arm looks to be right on course with the concepts.Wirey,but muscled very well,nice work there as well. The torso too looks like it's there already,very "Gangly like"......It's great to see it come along,with textures soon to come it will be great to see. "Perhaps crawling and climbing along a tree in a scene eventually"...just to give you an extra idea is in the works?

You commented on the derbiles possibly being toooooo difficult for you to model..............Bah to that,you can do them blindfolded.So I hope perhaps they still can come into existence,if not in time for this challenge than afterwards in your private time.

Looks really good already, I think you're about twenty minutes away from an awesome image! Just let the renderer do what it's best at: form. The thing that defines form are shadows. Way too often I see great models spoiled by bad renders with too much light, highlights that are burned to white kill the form in that particular area and if the image's overall value range is too small the effect is the same as in bad photography, the image flattens out. Also bright parts tend to drive attention to itself and you probably don't want the viewer to look at the back of the skull or any other uninteresting parts. Contrast has the same effect, decrease the contrast if you don't want the viewer to look at something and increase it if you want them to do so.

Iagree with ur position.Partially,but i agree.MMMh...putting correct lights 4 me,is a matter of "making the image express something".I mean....hard or soft lights on the same scene,change what the image tell to the viewer. In the case of Hangly creature....ur comments are correct.Because is supposed that the attention must fall on the character face or on the whole figure,and not on any secondary detalis...or background.
Ur overpaint looks very good and make clear what u mean..........i found it very userfull.
Im not sure what king of lights i will have 4 my final scene.
