Dmitry 01-10-2003, 06:31 PM Hay guys...in maya or deep paint there are an option of saving a uv map in an image mode with w/h properties.
How do you do it in max 5?

I use the texporter plugin. I dont have a direct link but i'm sure a search will bring it up. It does what you are asking very well.

OK here what I have found...
After the unwrao uv modifier was applied, I have saved the uvs into the file *.uvw
then i opened render to texture dialog, and set up the render to render my object to texture mode. I chose comple pass for all channels. Then I have assigned the wireframe shader to the model. Once the render to texture was executed it has assigned a new modifier called flatten uvs..which made my model look...well dull. Anyways In this flaten modifier i have loaded the previously saved uvs and it gave me an exact unwarpperd version of my map.

Hey Dmitry check out this sweet add on to the UnwrapUV mod in Max 5 by steve Johnson at
www.chuggnut.com
you want to Download the Unwrap Tools
it adds an extra side panel to the unwrap modifier which not only has some great tools, the main one is dump map which renders out the uv layout to your definned size and the save option are actually image files (bmp, jpg).
I think it's the best
Have fun
