Below are some Ogre concept sketches I'm developing for this scholarship;http://www.authorservicesinc.com/about/contests_text.html
There are several suggesting I'm looking for;

1. I know this was inspired by some image I've seen before. I don't want to plagarize anything, obviously, but I would like some decent reference sketches of creatures or characters that may bear some resemblemce to this guy. The only characters I can think of right now are Ogres from Warcraft and a Soul Caliber character named Astaroth (I think)

2. Any suggestions you have to improve the sketch you think I should go with. So far I like (A) and (F) the most.

3. Anything else that can suggested to improve the design of the characters or any critiques at all.

I'll be posting more later! Thanks in advance for any critiques

P.s. I know that the one in the middle (C) looks terrible---that's my photoshoped one that I should have just left alone, but I was trying to make it look better.

(A) looks good but I like (F) the best, probably because of the body structure. I like the thick necks.

Thank you sir!
Yes, I agree that F is my best one (I originally had a typo and I put B), I like th thick neck too, even though it took me a while to get the look I wanted. I'm going to go ahead with that one and start working on drawing the rest of the anatomy and composition! I'll keep this
updated.

p.s. How do I get the links near my sig? Like you have with your man and woman models

Hey I'm only 19!! :D

Funny you should ask that because I just put them yesterday. Those links actually are the signature. I don't think there is any other way of putting them there.

And thanks for your help with my work BTW!

Ogre concept sketch 2OK, I went with a slightly different version of (F) from the thumbnail posted above.
I think the hand/wrist on the left is twisted/bent too much for hold the weapon he's supposed to be holding. That's the main thing I see wrong but I would love more critiques about anything from the concept to improving the anatomy of composition.

I'm still not sure how to actually post the image in the thread--do I need to make a photobucket account or will that just let me post links?? Also, is there a limit on how many images I can post if I'm not a member? It seems like there's a limit on thumbnail attachments.

P.s. Sorry for the overall roughness of the piece. I'll try to get something a little more "IN Progress" next time I post a WIP

Anyone else have opinions? Seriously, I know it's not flawless and could use improvement. Unless, it's just too rough and sketchy to judge yet, otherwise I would like more then 1 person's opinion!

I use photobucket to host my images. It has a 1Gb limit.
You're right about the wrist it does bend too much. His left arm seems too thin near the elbow, and the bicep on the same arm could be a little lower down. The other arm I suppose could be a bit thicker to match with the other bulging arm. The hands look fine to me.

It's still early to crit on anything else, so I'll be waiting for an update.

Keep it up.

Yes, you do have competition, but you've probably got nothing to worry about from me, I just started this as my first one a week ago and I've only got about..what, 10 days to finish this and do 2 more? That means, I'll be lucky to even finish them and I doubt they'll look as good as yours since you've been working on them for 8 months! HOLY cow, I only signed up for Fastweb and discovered this scholarship about 2 months ago.

Anyways, why don't you post some of your work! Maybe you'll intimidate me so much I'll drop out, eh? Naw, I'm going to shoot for it anyways, but I would like to see what I'm up against.

Good luck to you and thanks for the comments!

Ogre concepts (fat, muscular humaniod)
Okay, here are some updates

Remember, I'm attempting to turn out some decent illustrations for an illustrator scholarship so any advice on nitpicky anatomy, better designs, composition or character poses would be greatly appreciated and valued! Also, just so you know, the basic premise of this illustration will be some kind of confrotation between a large ogre and a small boy or other similiar character. Let me know what composition you like the best. I should have an update soon with the boy shooting or aiming a slingshot at the ogre.

Here's the first idea--Ogre standing over the boy in a defensive position. I don't think I'm going to go with this idea, but I still would like any advice!

Second Idea. I Might go with this...the kid looking down on the Ogre from high atop a tree. I really need to work on the top perspective anatomy though...advice?

This is probably my favorite idea. the following are pictures I've put a little bit of work into, but I'm sure they could still use improvements. The ogre will be charging at the boy who will be holding a slingshot to attempt to fend off the ogrehttp://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g14/Zephyrpower/OGRECharge.jpg
