This is a work done for school. I researched and tried to be as historically correct as possible concerning the armor and setting. I would appreciate any and all c&c's. Let me know what is wrong with it. Do not worry about hurting my feelings because you wont, can’t get better if I do not learn, just don’t be rude. Thanks.

To be honest, I think that your scene lacks dynamism. It doesn't look like goliath is threatening, nor David look like he's really giving it to that hurl. David does look like he's standing really close to goliath too. It would seem like you skewed the perspective to make Goliath look taller. I personally feel that the photoreferences you've pasted are lined up pretty well perspectively. Perhaps you could follow that.

I think the part that you can really work on is that throw that David is doing. It doesn't look like it's going to hurt that big man at all. In fact, the guy posing in the photo seems to be putting his right shoulder down a little more, giving more oomph to the throw. However, I still think that the throwing pose can be a lot more dynamic. Personally, I wouldn't put in that flying rock too.

Perhaps if you were to catch a pose of David just about to release the sling, in mid motion, with the rock just beginning to fly out of the sling, it might be better. It'd save you the problem of having to deal with the flying rock too.

Hope this helps.

Terence

The reason I chose that pose was that Goliath was taunting the Israelite army at the time, it seemed like a good taunting pose.Davids pose is suppose to be a exagertaion of the actual technigue of sling throwing, they did not have to actually bend that far so i was trying to push that aspect, mainly the stone travled at 60-70 miles an hour, was not sure how to approach the stone and make it look right in the overall picture. Thanks for the suggestions.

I can't say for sure, but I don't think muscle armour was around till the time of Greeks and Romans, this scene is set about 1000 BC, long before their time. But then again you said you researched and I haven't so I can't effectively argue that. You could, however, make the bronze (I assume that's what it is) darker and less saturated.

Nice topic you chose. A breath of fresh air from fantasy crap.

Looking forward to next update.

Well as for Goliaths armour, I may need to clarify a little, most all that I read about the armour was that it was speacially made for Goliath and his unit, I may have taken to much artistic leeyway on that I will have to do more detailed research on that part.
Thanks for the post.It may be awhile for the update.
