I'm trying to connect a rope between two characters so i'm using a rendered spline(actually these are 2 splines that are attached) for the rope and i connected it with spline selections and linked Xforms.
one side is connected to the two handcuffs on the camera character. the other side is connected to the other character and the middle is connected to the lock that is in the middle of the rope.
i also applied a flex modifier to the rope.
I want the rope to move in a realistic way for example when the camera character jump then the middle of the rope (where the lock is located) should go downward and when the camera goes downward the middle of the rope should go upward.
i tried to give position and rotation constraint to the LOCK (wich controls the middle of the rope) with 60% wieght on the big character and 20% for each of the hand cuffs on the camera character. but it didn't really worked out.
so right now i just linked the lock to the big character's hands
and the only way i can think off is doing the rest handy (to move the lock by myself)

maybe there is a script that can help me? or maybe i should use somehow the expression controller for this? any suggestions

i hope what i'm trying to ask make any sense, i posted a pic so that maybe it will be more clear

i suggest two options which are good now depending on you one is definately better, well these are the two options simcloth3 or cloth fx. well simcloth is the best option i'll suggest as the better on cause i've tried that for myself, all you do is just attaching of vertixes to the characters which u should have animated all ther motions before simulating the cloth. just make the rope material cloth and on the simcloth modifier sublevel select the tips u want attached to the bodies than make groups then attach to the bodies. Anyways i guess u should just play around with it and u should get your way around.

also let me know if u need more help

and also maybe u could even figure how to animate it and simulate it with a guy skipping as rope
