I found a used version of C4D v7.3 on e-bay and was seriously considering buying it to install on my daughter's computer. Does anyone out there know what the legal issues may or may not be in purchasing used software and if, in fact, it is legal at all.

Thanks!

Hi,
selling a used CINEMA license is completely legal as long as it has not been used to upgrade and its not a NFR (not for resale) version.
The seller has to inform Maxon about the new owner (with complete postal adress for registration) and that he has deleted all copys and given the new owner the complete package
Hope this helps

It is perfectly legal so long as the seller legally owns it to start with. Maxon doesn't have any of that rubbish in the EULA which tries to tell you that the software you just bought isn't yours to sell.

Just double check with the seller that:

1) It is indeed a full legal version, not a $5 backup CD....

2) He mustn't have upgraded to Release 8.
