its not really a scene...
there isnt alot of effort put into this either. its just grass on a field.
If you are brand new at cg.. then I totally understand.
So, it is suppose to be grass.. it looks a bit blurry.. and thick.

It sort of reminds me of something that grows outside. They're too straight and sharp though. It reminds me more of a bed of nails.... painted green. The grass needs to droop, not just be strait, but curved a bit. It'll mean more polys but it'll look better. I'm actually trying to make some grass too :) It's very poly intensive. Good luck.

Please remember to post your approaches to the WIP forum next time! And give it a specific name - "realistic grass" would be better than "check this out". Thanks :)

Hmmm, I think it's worse now. Now it looks like trees from far away. Instead of a cone looking thing, can you make a cube with a few vertical subdivisions and give the blade a droop?

There must be a better way to do grass in Max.

I havent used bryce in a long time. But Id say if you want grass just make it in max. Also instead of trying to make it look like a patch of grass try to make a blade of grass and repeat and change size and things. using cones will never work, inless your trying to do some sort of new cartoony grass. Keep working at it if you really want to make it in bryce but i would say use max.

Grass in max is easy, super easy. what ide do is make a 3 point object using splines, turn on bezier corners (?) i think, drag the top point forward a little, so it bends. then, give it a texture, according to seasons, spring would be real green. summer would be brown green yellow, and fall-winter would be yellow. get yer texture, then apply the scatter. then goto Transformations, and edit the rotations so that it looks rite, maybe even the scale? I also think there is a tutorial on grass in max, over at 3dluvr dunno wut its called. Hope this helps you!
