I would add in some of the hair on his head (you notice in the reference pictures he has a few). I would also work on the skin and cloth textures some to make them look less like clay, maybe add some SSS.

Hi, Steven,

You ready my mind. Hehehe. I'm looking for some SSS textures right now. =D

About the hair I'll try make with some dinamics.

Some SSS Shading for skin. I'll finish UV for cloths and shoes.

The light is terrible but I will fix. =D

I'm think make a scene from this episode:
http://www.familyguyfiles.com/episodes/episodes.php?id=2

Where Stewie interrogates and torture a broccoli, this scene is great.

If anyone knows another great scene from Stewie, please told me.

There's a black quad in the lip, I think is some problem with subds at mental ray. Some tip for solving this?

What a great change of pace. I love stuff like this, it's really refreshing compared to the same old realism works. Here's what I see:

I think the nose bridge is to thin. I guess your making something 3d from a 2d character, but it just looks more like a beak or something? Otherwise it looks just like him.

cbernardo
06-07-2006, 01:04 PM
Hello, Matt,

This nose is really difficult! They never show it in total front axis at the TV show! I'll try to make some changes. Or in last case I'll never show it in total front axis too. :D

Yea, that's true. Well maybe just make the nose a little less sharp along the center. Make it a little wider.

I'll make some changes!

Some facial controls. I don't know if this is right, but I think is enough for the animation. If some one have a tip about this controls I'll be glad. :)

I make an AVI file from Family Guy DVD with the scene that I want animate. There's some copyright problem if I put this AVI file in a link?

Looking good so far. They make Family Guy toys/figures. I would pick one up and examine how they translated his features into toy form, and maybe that'll help with your model. Just a thought. Keep up the good work!

Thanks, Diego and Kevin!

Thanks Diogenes, would be a great help! It's very dificult translate the nose for 3D. I'm crazy about this toys in particular:

Hi, Stefan,

Thanks for your comment! I try render with a cartoon shader, but the result is not good (I think I have study more about shaders) hehehehe. And I think the original drawing is so much better with outlines.

Hey Dogmatico,
Looking good. I did a Stewie model last year in Lightwave. I put the model up for free on my site here (http://3d4food.com/free.html). It's in Lightwave format but it's there if you want to check it out. Love the room and the props by the way.

At the moment I'm finishing the weights and UVs for Stewie.

I'm making teeth to Stewie, the funny thing is in one episodes Stewie's teeth aregrowing up. But in others episodes he teeth appears.

I make Stewie using Subd's and using poly wraps for facial expressions and skeletons, but I'm having some problems with mental ray and UV map on subds, so I'll change Stewie for a poly smooth. The wrap deformers works weel with High Poly models? Or I'll need make a poly smooth proxy for using my wraps?

carlos

cbernardo

This is a Stewie smooth poly. The results with mental ray looks better, at least the gaps in the mouth disappear.

I still have some problens with the cloths. Today is hollyday here in Brazil, so I'll dedicate some time studying cloths.

Comments and critics are very welcome.
