Hi all,
since there is a vast number of plugins for CINEMA we at Maxon have been unable to test them all in combination with R8. We tried make as many of them usable in R8 as possible, but we need your help to achieve more.
If you encounter problems with a R7 or R6 plugin working in R8 we would like to ask you to report this problem to us, so we can either fix it or help the programmer of the plugin to make his/her plugin compatible to R8.

However to cope with this we would like to ask you to follow these guidelines to report plugin problems.

1. Exact version of CINEMA 4D R8 you are using (8.001/8.012 and installed modules) and the OS you are using
2. Exact version of the plugin i.e. DirtyNuts 1.0. If no version number is available date+size of the cdl/mdl file.
3. Short description of the problem
4. Simple example scene that shows the problem (this should only use the plugin in question and no other plugins or expressions)
5. If it is a free plugin a copy of the plugin or a link to download
6. Author of the plugin and/or link to his/hers website
7. Check if it works when no other plugin is installed. A number of plugin problems only occurs when plugins are combined, so sometimes we might not be able to recreate a problem you are experiencing
8. Check if the plugin realy works in R6/7

Please report those problems directly to me (qa_manager @ maxon.de) and not to the forum since we don't want to use up the forums bandwidth.

Many thanks in advance to all that will help

So nice to see the company actively helping out in making 3rd party plug ins compatible. My frustration with Maya is that with every new version, 3rd party plugins no longer work, such as Renderman, TreeGenerator and pretty much 90% of the plugs out there. Way to go Maxon!! :wavey:

It's really nice that Maxon worries about their users.
What I don't like is that just sending a report to Maxon isn't very transparent for other users that might have the same problem.
This applies for bugreports and suggestions, too.

I'd like to have a public knowledgebase / forum (managed from Maxon) where bugs, workarrounds and suggestions could be posted.

greetings,
Sneaker
