View Full Version : Editors Block....
greyfalco 05-30-2006, 08:58 AM I'm editing together an animation I made to some music, I had a light storyboard going in but of course the editing process changes things around...anyhow, I've been stuck now for 3 days and have been rearranging clips to no avail...I'm just wondering what you guys might do to get around 'editors block'. Take a walk? Tried that, lots. Anything, please, anything....

if you can, leave it alone for a couple of days, but since that's not possible most of the time due to deadlines i usualy find it best to have somebody else, who's not involved in the project, watch it and give their perspectives to it that usualy provides you with a couple of insights you probably didnt think of because you're "too used" to the movie

Hm, thanks very much. I've been far too secretive with the project up till now so I think I will show it around. Thanks.
I have a group of people that I trust who always see projects as they are coming down the pipe. Not everyone sees every project, sometimes its just one person. They'll mention things like a section that feels rushed or sluggish.
Sometimes taking 30 minutes or and hour and taking your mind completely off the project can work too. Don't just take a walk, cause you'll start to think about it. Reading novels works for me, I have to clear my mind and concentrate on the book. When I look at the project again its like seeing it again with a different perspective.
