No, it can't. It can connect to network functions via the script engine and send e-mails, but that's about it. You still need to have some message server somewhere to where to send an e-mail and from there you'd get your text message.

Here's where I found the link:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1578202396/sr=8-48/qid=1149000046/ref=sr_1_48/103-4118665-8990246?%5Fencoding=UTF8
It's the first review.
-Mylenium, thanks for the info. Would you (or someone you know) know how to do this? (scripting wise)

There's a sample script that ships with AE illustrating how to fire an e-mail. That should be enough to get you going.

Thanks for the direction Mylenium. I found a great tutorial about how to set it all up.
It's pretty simple.

Now I have AE calling me when my renders are complete! Now, does anybody know how to do this with Lightwave or Softimage?? (That'd be nice)

LW can't, that's for sure, but I would assume that you should be able to pull it off with XSI - it uses JavaScript or VBScript and assujming they both are implemented with full features, they should provide network sockets. Dunno for sure, as I've only played with the demo every now and then.

Okay,
What about sending an email to a web based email account such as yahoo?
I can send it to my personal email account just fine, however, yahoo is giving me problems.
I've checked on a few websites on how to set up the account, but, AE is saying it's having authentication problems.
For instance: AE asks for the smtp server address. I
type in:
smtp.mail.yahoo.com
I add my email address, my email's user name and password. But, it's giving me errors such as:
535 authorization failed (#5.7.0)
Any ideas?

Presumably AE does not create all the headers required for some servers. You would have to run a local SMTP engine, send it from AE to there and then on to your "real" provider.
