View Full Version : max5: Sound question
GRMac13 01-10-2003, 01:19 AM Ok so I need a sound clip to start at frame 72, right? So I load the sound into max and I can't find a frickin way to move the audio on the timeline or tell it to start on frame 72 instead of frame 0. How the hell can I get the damn sound to start on the frame I want it to instead of always starting at frame 0? Please help.

Can you edit the sound file and add 72 seconds of silence at the beginning of the file?

As odd as 3danim8d's suggestion may sound, it is infact what you need to do as far as I know. I was quite mortified when I first discovered how limited soundcapabilities MAX has, but it seems to be the case (not using any plugins that is, as usual they're out there and they will dramatically increase the sound-related stuff MAX can handle).
But as it is, I belive you're just going to have to accept that MAX can handle one audio-stream, that starts from frame zero, with little or no options to tweak.

greg,
I haven't found a way to do it either, for what it's worth... I insert silence in the clip... sucks, I know...
in max 5
go in the dope sheet
insert your sound -> sound right click -> properties
then just click on the edit range button mode (2nd button under the dope sheet menus)
then just grab your animation range -> the grey line thar represents your animation -> and move it !!!!!
that's all you can put your sound where U want...
thx to Derzen !!!

Thanx baby, that worked.
I changed the display from max5's new dope sheet to the classic trackview with the ranges and just slid the range bar over to frame 72.
Now does anyone know of a (preferably free) plug-in where I can have 2 or more audio tracks in trackview?
Thanx for trying to help, guys.
