Hey

If this is realy legal, it will make many guys happy. Many are searching for icarus, there are illegal downloads out there, some users simply share it with others and not everyone understands that distributing it after it was bought by PF is illegal.
So this is realy good news. Marsino, is this your page?

I don't know about this one, but as I recall the original Icarus was never free for commercial work.

Peerless ;) I thought Icarus died out a long time ago. but it is nice to see it is still alive and kicking. Icarus is still popular among animation master users. I have seen some nice things done with it. Was the older version not allowed for commersial work? I dont remember this restriction. chrome://unplug/skin/pagehog.png

Hi

I've downloaded it and had a play, looks interesting.

Though I have noticed something odd, when i click on any menu or the top window bar my machine(dual 2ghz G5) makes a weird high pitched whine which stops as soon as i close menu. Has anyone else noticed anything similar ?

Slightly OT
I bought the Pixelcorps version of boujou some time ago and I am totaly dissapointed.
I couldn't get a simple track to work.
Anyway I'll try the same tracking with icarus and see what happens.
Anyone got any experience with boujou bullet?

Thanks

I had a lot of trouble with Icarus. If you are just starting with motion matching I would highly recommend getting Pixel Farm's PFHoe for $100 or so. The options are limited compared to Icarus but the results are faster and way way more accurate.

btw. the non commercial use of Icarus message is plastered all over the interface.. you cant miss it.

can't say this often enough - get syntheyes. the interface is like poking your eyes with pencils but the results are rock solid. russ, the author of the app, actually understands that in most cases you get the best results using a guided solve for the camera rather than an automatic solve.

automatic solvers break far too easily and when they do go wonky you can't fix them. syntheyes gives you the best of both worlds. you can try an auto solve and when that doesn't work you can go into semi-automatic and manual modes.

for $399 you can't go wrong.

cheers, simon w.

How many times do we have to say it.

Syntheyes is the business.

But the interface is very unfriendly on the eye

still, if rock solid tracks are what your after you can't go wrong with this

Nope, it isn't. The question is how your footage looks and if you are aware of the limitations of the process. You won't get a track with a nodal pan (ie. tripod mounted camera). No tracker would be able to solve that as it is missing parallax. Also, if you have a lot of movement in your shot you probably need to mask it out so that the tracker will not get confused what it actually is supposed to track.

Hi Marsino. What format did you export the data from Icarus in order to import the camera tracking into cinema? I appologise in advance if i'm missing a simple export/import feature.

What are the biggest diffrents between BoujouThree and Boujou Bullet?

I didn't find any useful informations?

Are there any tests/reviews around with all the common Matchmoving software's?

cheers,

mzee
