Current progress:

this is my current spare time project, Scarlett Johansson's head. I started this as an exercise doing a head the first time. I had to start three times before I was at least a bit satisfied.
So here's what I got after 3 days of work
http://www.farbspender.de/Blender/SJ/sj001.jpg
The eyeball is just a placeholder to get geometry right and I forgot to disable a "decimate" modifier on that sphere for rendering thats why you can see the facets.
Here are some wires:

On the inside of the eye the quads look a bit odd, I need to clean that up. I'm not sure about the size of the eyeball-placeholder-thingie. I suspect it do be a bit too large.
I know that "triangular part" - sorry don't know how its called even in my mother tongue - on the inner side of the eye is still missing. It's on my list.
So any comments are very much appreciated. Thanks.
Stephan

Looking recognisable already, but I think it looks a bit better in the angled view than from the front; I think the lips and jaw may be a bit narrow. Good luck... :thumbsup:
HoodedPython, is it too much to ask for you to try this (http://images.google.co.uk/images?q=scarlett+johansson)? ;)

Thanks again for all advises so far. The jaw indeed was too narrow but the mouth was right, I'd say.
So here's another update.
i worked on everything. Got some eyelids now and I cleaned the mesh on the eye in general. This turnes out to be quite tough... doh!

several parts where I'm not satisfied/sure:
* I think the mouth goes forward too much
* The skull is too round from the front view and I'm not sure if it sloopes too much from the side view.

Here's another update.
I moved the mouth backwards a bit (according to another reference pic) and cleaned the mesh around the nose.

hey good work so far :applause: Scarlett's one of my faves. Talented actress... and yeah, she looks rather hot... ahem. So, looking forward to see the finished model! Good luck, mate :)

@all: Thanks for the support.
@Digital_rebellion: Well I think she's a true beauty...
And another update, tweaking along... worked on eyes (that triangular thing on the inside is there but not perfect yet :bounce: ), the cheeks and the lips.

What do you think so far?

So here we go again. Sad that there's not too many comments. I know I'm not very active in this forum, but it's simply the lack of time... sorry...
Anyway, I did some work again. Trying to shape the back of the head. It's still quite a mess, bumpy and too many verts (as you see I'm not too good at reducing facecount). But at least theres something that gives an impression of the whole head. I'm still unsure of how far I should go with accuracy on the back of the head as I'm planning to do hair. As an exercise of course I should try to model it correctly. A test for my pacience... ;)
The ear is obviously missing. I'm planning to do that next. So here we go:

Hi,
I worked alot on this over the last two days and rebuilt almost everything, only lips and nose are from the old model. I use a different flow of edges now to build the face – a tip from another forum. Eyes are gone atm. The old ones were quite a mess and too hard to control.
I watched "Lost in Translation" again today. Besides being an awesome movie (yes, that's a matter of taste…), seeing her mimics give good hints on how the face is built.
I also started on the ear… that should become difficult…

Again some updates, moved around verts in the face for quite some time. Started the eyelids again but want to keep them simple for some time…

If you're really trying to get a likeness....the best thing might be to try to mimic the camera of your reference with the camera in your software and then line up your geometry.many times.
