yes you can however I haven't found a way to view the waveform like you normally see with just one sound file loaded in the timeline.

but do like you did before and import all the sound files you like, and then do this:

Go into the Trax Editor. you will now see your sound clips inside the window. You can now click and move the sound to where you would like it to start and such. Once you get the sound timed right, right click on the timeline and go to: Sound -> Use Trax Sounds and can now play both sounds. Sometimes you can not scrub the timeline and hear the sound like you normally would with a single sound selection so its not good for lipsyncing.

But you will notice that all you can see is a solid green line for the sound instead of the normal waveform that you get with just one sound, its either that or you will just have to manually switch the sound selection for when you want to change.

Or another option is to use a sound program to combine the two together and output it as one long sound and there for you can see the waveform. Which ever way works best for you.

If I personally have to use multiple sounds, I bring them into maya and use the trax editor to get the timing right for easy adjustment to position it. Then with the start and end frames of the sound I use a sound program to reproduce the same timeline and output it as one sound and bring that into maya. That way I can scrub and see the sound waveform. But I also keep the cut up sound in the scene if I have to readjust again and kick it back out.

Good Luck!
