i'm wanting to import an image from photoshop into illustrator.

however the image i'm trying to import is a border/frame type of image and i need the centre to remain transparent in illustrator.

does anyone have any info as to how this can be achieved

cheers

the photoshop file should have a transparent background or no background, not a white background.

already been trying that... that's what i thought also...

however, no matter if i simply copy and paste or save as a tiff file and place (not as a link) i can't seem to put the image into illustrator with a hollow centre, it makes the centre white??? when i want it to be transparent.

i'm using photoshop cs 8 and illustrator 9

think i just worked it out... just save the file as a psd and when placeing the image into illustrator, i was given the option to keep psd layers or flatten, i chose to keep layers and it looks like it has worked...

thank goodness... need to get this done for a job.
