Does any one know how you can get walls for a building in to maya with wall hight and thickness? Example a wall which is 5'0" long x 8'0" high x 0'6" thick.:buttrock: :buttrock:

Actually Autocad can be 3D!

What works fine for me is this:
Export ur cad-work as a .3ds file and import it in maya
U only need to scale it down.
If ur working in cad in mm u need to scale ur original drawing by 0.001
The only problem is that the origin in cad is the same as the origin in maya, so if u just started drawing somewhere in autocad, u need to locate ur drawing/object in maya and move it back to 0,0,0 (or just do the same in cad :p )

That can be easily changed by setting your prefences to the correct units and orientation in maya before importing the file..

Thanks for your help. I do have a ver3.1 of max, so I have tried exporting from autocad to max, extruding the floor plan, then to maya and it works.:bounce:
