Some apps that make/read avi movies get hosed by MP9. One I know off the top of my head is icarus matchmoving software. So I'm waiting till things get cleaned up a little.

I'd rather just have something simple like the default media player in win2k. I really don't like the slow loading skinned interface.

FYI, we've just released Icarus v2.08 today, which works correctly with Media Player 9. You can grab it from:

I've installed it here, and nothing too nasty yet. It can't be any worse than Media Player 8 can it?

Well when I am doing my 3d work and checking avi files and things like that, it will always be Windows Media Player 5 (you know the standard win2k one, 'mplayer2') it's minimal and quick. I also for some reason I tend to believe it more then the later media players that my video is being played at 100% resolution.
But for music or anything recreational.. I will use WM9.. mainly becuase of it's cool jukebox like functionality... It has a bunch of neat automatic functions... like I can tell it to play the songs which I listen to on the weekends.. or my highest rated songs in my library.. neat stuff like that.
Well thats just my oppinion :)
*I also tend to use the original media player sometimes too
