View Full Version : ET helper functionality with pre 3dsmax V7

if I'm sending someone a character that was created in 3dsmax v7 and they're using 3dsmax v6 and if the character has expose transform helpers to assist in how the other objects 'react' to these et helpers, would I have to create float script controllers on the rotations of my underlying bones (where the et helper is passing rotation data) and via float script pass to new variables the rotations that my character is achieving in frame in order to achieve the same functionality of an et helper ?

reads a bit long I know..in a rush...hope you understand my question.

the max file format is not backwards compatible - you cant send someone a max 7 rig and expect it to open in max 6 it simply wont -

there are some scripts that can convert simplier scenes (bobo file format) but nothing that could even begin to deal with rigs

why dont you just make it in 6 and not use ET?
