I'm saving a DDS and I dont want an alpha in it but even if I save it as DXT1 No Alpha I get a blank alpha.

Any thoughts?

i dont know what DDS is but im just speculating by what you said.

Perhaps when it means No Alpha, its not placing in an alpha based on the image, perhaps its just making an alpha of complete white, so that effectively there is "an alpha channel"....but with no grey/black areas to be a true...alpha channel, get what im saying? lol

hope that helped

Adding to what Collmember was saying:

It is my understanding that DXT1 saves a 1-Bit alpha meaning the alpha bit for each pixel can be 1 or 0.

If the alpha bit is '1' then the colour is full colour and if the alpha bit is '0' the colour is black.

Effectively, you are saying that you want all your pixels to be coloured so DXT sets the bit to 1 which gives you the blank alpha.

Basically, just ignore your blank alpha.

yeah I finally found that out its just that DDS's have to have something in the alpha channel. It would be nice if somewhere in their documentation they said that the "No Alpha" option really means just a 1bit alpha
