Title: 3D Skyline Model of Seattle Downtown
Name: Matt Wright
Country: USA
Software: Maya, mental ray

The purpose of this project was to recreate a section of Seattle skyline (buildings only, NOT sky) as fast and as accurately as possible. The projected started with a photography shoot on a rooftop. These photographs were put through photogrametry, and the aligned cameras were exported to Maya. Inside Maya all the buildings were modeled, and rendered using Mental RAY. Textures were taken from the photographs gathered. One building (Roosevelt) was chosen to enhance to a higher detail level (more polys). More of this project, and others can be seen at www.mattikaarts.com

NOTE: This is a project to recreate a city skyline, the purpose of this work was the buildings, hense why there is no actual sky.

All of these works started life as photographs, and photogrametry, using Photomodeler. The aligned cameras, and some locator points were then taken into Maya for modeling and rendering.

Hope you guys like, we are really happy how these turned out.

Cheers

Matt
