I did this "Terminatrix" as a test piece for my final piece for the contes going on at Eatpoo/Conceptart. It is a big departure for me technically. AND yes... it is a mishmash of phot-manip, paint-overs and plain old drawing and digi-painting. About 50/50 of each... so I guess it'd be 50/50/50/50 (or 25/25/25/25) *whatever*

Wow! For a test piece, it really rocks! The colors blend really well! Did you draw the woman or was she part of a photo? How about the blade? Man... I gotta take a look at your site man! Bring it (more artwork) on! :D :bounce:

Thanks! THe woman is a paint-over with some redraw of an existing photo. I had the phot on the a layer and then painted on top of it. I used the photo as a map for the structure and lighting.

Saw your site, you're one hell of a talented artist.
Hope I can draw like this some day! :D

Excellent! Reminds me of one of my favorite artists, Brom (http://www.bromart.com/) .

The only thing that puts me off is the Cyberdyne logo on the blade. Robots don't have an ego or need to display ownership, at least not in the Terminator world from what I've seen. The lettering seems a little out of place.

Otherwise, great image! Thanks for sharing.

Carlocki-
In almost all of my paintings the background is on a seperate layer ( early in the process ) until I get a feeling for how I ultimately want it to look. As far as did I have this final image in mind? No it started as soemthing close to the final but different enough to be a happy surprise when I was done.

Webfox- I see your point about the logo. However, I chose to add it because I felt it gave the blade a grounded look. Without it I thought it could be to easily related to the Morphing ability of the T-1000. It also added a retro feel to it. Perhaps Skynet had evolved to include aesthetics in it design...

Great stuff to inspire ones mind.

Is it possible to get a walk through of the process? Maybe a mini tutorial would be perfect, im sure tons of people would love to know the steps...

StaleCracker - I've seen your stuff over on Poo and I'm very impressed. This is one of my favorites for the Terminator contest. Hope you have time to do one that you feel comfortable enough to enter.

Please post some more stuff here

Bua, ya ves, tío. Si eres hombre, :shame: como se te ocurre tener eso? Menos mal que la otra gente no sabe de lo que va porque si no.... :airguitar

I think what gives off the H.R. Giger vibe is the colour of the blade and other mechanical parts, basically, the whole bio-mechanical feel to it all. With minor changes I'd've thought it was Giger's... maybe some slight colour mods to make it more different from him? Nevertheless, excellent work!
