This is a piece I've been playing around in Photoshop on. The line art in the back is just to help with possible placement and the grass skirt is very rough. Hope you like. Will post follow-ups soon.

(FYI: This is done with a mouse only. Haven't been able to aquire a tablet as of yet.)

Here's a slightly larger version with a few updates. I've only put a couple base layers for the mask... long way to go still...

Crits please!

*Anyone have any tips for me to keep a picture a good size without sacrificing too much quality while keeping it under 40k?

I don't have webspace to host them on and have tried saving for web and dropping quality on jpgs. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thank guys.

Does anyone have any recommendations on what the best digital tablets are (on a poor-man's budget) and what the pros/cons are on using them?

I think it will help speed up my projects a bit but know very little about them.

Thanks guys...

first of all: very nice work, keep it up ;)

the question about the tablet can easily be answered with the wacom graphire2

in my opinion, the format of DIN A6 (don't exactly know, what this is in american size, sorry) is enough to work with it, and I've heard from most of the other owners of this tablet that they agree.
A very big advantage is that the pen has no battery, so you won't ever have the problem to change it.

the prize is round 100-150€ (in germany), so I think, it's not too expensive.

I tried a Wacom from aldi (It's a supermarket :D), and I think, the wacom is 20 times better, the difference is really big.

hope I could help you :)

I appreciate the feedback. I think I'll have Carpal Tunnels in my wrist if I keep using the mouse to do this stuff. I've been reading up on the tablets a bit and hope to have one soon.

Thanks again guys... More updates soon.
