I'm attempting to apply a Diffuse Glow, but for reasons I can't figure out when I open the filter I'm getting what looks like an inverse glow - The areas that would be the brightest are black, and as I increase the Glow Amount the image gets increasing darker. ...It's almost as if the sliders are working in reverse of their intended direction.

There's no Alpha Channel, I tried applying the glow at the beginning of my process, I tried restarting, quiting Photoshop and opening the file again. I've tried saving the file in various formats (from tiff, to psd, to pct, to jpg) and I still get the same results.

Any thoughts or insights would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: here's a sample of what I'm getting...

...I just figured out what was causing my problem: the background color in my palette was set to black... As a result of a long night of work I wasn't thinking clearly and didn't even consider that as an option...

Yeah, I feel silly.
