Character Modeler
Job Description:
Responsibilities:
· Responsible for designing, as well as creating from concept, 3D character models, in addition to completion through implementation. Collaborate between animation, design, and programming to enhance a system, understanding technological issues and how they would relate to art and implementation.
· Ensure the consistency and quality of all characters with Design, Animation and World/Level Art disciplines. Work with the Producer and Game Director, as well as Art, Design, Animation and Technical Art disciplines in defining Character directions. · Advanced Maya and Photoshop skills are required. Experience with ZBrush desirable.
· Demonstrate a superior understanding of both 2D and 3D art. Must possess excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. Must have extensive fine art background and a strong understanding of the basic elements, principles and practices of form, color and design in two and three dimensions.
· Able to work in a wide range of artistic styles, and can maintain the appropriate style over the course of the project. Must posses the skills to design/create from verbal descriptions, while meeting the demands of the console as well as expert modeling/texturing ability in both low and high poly (500 to 5000) modeling. Character physique and rigging for animation is very desirable. Expert level texture painting and UV application skills required.
Qualifications:
· Possess expert modeling/texturing ability in both low and high poly (500 to 5000) modeling. Character physique and rigging for animation. Expert level texture painting and UV application skills. Possess functional knowledge in Maya, and expert-level in Photoshop. Have exceptional illustration and concept drawing skills.
· Ability to perform a variety of tasks, often changing assignments on short notice. Willing to modify plans when necessary to meet a goal.
· Analysis and Attention to Detail: Finds and uses relationships between data from different sources. Thoroughly accomplishes tasks.
· Clearly and effectively expresses verbal and written ideas.
· Works well with colleagues and other teams. Takes time to help others achieve their goals and assignments.

Environmental Modeler
Responsibilities:
· Assist other Environment Artists when help is requested. This includes but is not limited to; assisting with modeling, textures, lighting, effects, optimization, time management, art and design problems, technical issues, etc.
· Work within the set standard for all art asset creation within the production path. Must possess excellent comprehension and working knowledge of the environment production pipeline.
· Carry out the specified art style determined by the Art Director and Lead Environment Artist(s). Communicate any major problem areas, expectations, or desired modifications to the Lead Environment Artist as well as collaborating on the creation of techniques for environments in the game. Work with the Art Director and Lead Environment Artist to accomplish visual consistency and quality.
· Be capable of maintaining gameplay sheets provided by the Lead Environment Artist(s). This may include rework, critiquing and changing areas due to design or technical concerns.
· Provide feedback to the Lead Environment Artist on any technical help or support needed.
· Work with Art Director, Designers, Programmers and Concept Artists, from early concept stages to completion of levels. This includes working with Lead Environment Artists and Designers to maintain and generate gameplay sheets, modeling, texturing, and lighting of final art in these levels, communicating to Leads when support is necessary to meet these goals, optimizing levels to run at a respectable frame-rate and fit within memory limitations.
· Providing general maintenance on level throughout the course of the project.
· Assist in the successful creation of environment models, pack/layout UV mapping coordinates and paint texture maps. Ensure that all of this is achieved and in accordance with the approved concept art.
· Must possess working knowledge of game engines and artist tools. Keep abreast of any changes and improvements made to the game engine and production pipeline during development.
· Provide Lead Environment Artist with ongoing feedback on requests of how to improve current engine.
Qualifications:
· Managing the responsibility of developing the most complex environments in the game.
· Have a strong understanding of games and game level design. Knowledge of console or PC game platform limitations should be excellent. Be capable of creating gameplay collision/sheets for entire levels based upon rough designer sheets or paper maps. · Must possess strong leadership skills in order to effectively delegate tasks to junior members of the team.
· Combining ideas and methodology of environment production to create an efficient and streamlined pipeline that other Environment Artists can follow.
· Strong technical art skills required for creating optimized levels (i.e. understanding of memory/poly/texture limitations, efficiency in building collision, comprehension of building streaming/loading levels, character and level lighting, etc.).
· Expert level texture painting and UV application skills required.
