Hey folks, I'm actually bidding for a job at the moment, and am curious. . . for those of you who have done contract animation work, how much are you charging, say, per second of animation, or what would you charge for a 15-20 second piece? This will be a commercial piece for a company website/presentations, and will not be terribly complicated, nor photorealistic. More representational of their processes.

Anyone with any suggestions is welcome to make them.

Thank you.

Well you have to break it down into an hourly rate, so that you can know what your yearly salary equivalent would be. Without knowing how long per finished second it'll take, you can't estimate a price. For freelance work I probably average a bid of $50/hour. You go low for small budget gigs that are interesting, and high for big corporation gigs that don't benefit your sense of satisfaction or your portfolio.
