Hi there,

could any one give me any tips on how, or what methods Ryan Church used to create the clone troopers in this image http://www.ryanchurch.com/ryanchurch_AC027.htm.
Do you think he just painted it with a hard white brush than a black? please be really specific since i've only had 2-3 weeks exp in photoshop. It would probably help if you pointed me in the direction of any tutorials on drawing a human or the human figure in photoshop. thnx for your time, Kaz

You're asking alot, he's a master. Anyway, look closer, it's not black and white, the whites have coloring from the environment, the blacks are tinted as well. Really, he paints as one would on canvas, so you should look at the old masters for color and style etc. Also, I would do this sort of work in Painter, there are some great books with Tutorials, some with Ryan Church.

hey thx for the responce, yer i can see what you mean now that i look more carefully, but do you think he first started it by perhaps drawing a silhouette with a black low flow brush and then adding the white armour and then adding the tints from the environment, im just throwing ideas but do you have any of how he made any of them

Go buy Ryan's Gnomon DVDs. If you're serious about digital painting, you won't be dissapointed. What he says isn't as helpful as just watching how he goes about solving problems, it completely changed my way of approaching photoshop for painting.
