Is this possible in R7-or is he waveform my only guide for synching animation?

How about in R8?

The best I can do is get the sound file to play in its native app, when clicking on play in cinema. tried option/control/shift scrubbing--doesnt work--not mentioned in the manuals.

R7 - Scrubbing not possible but yes, you can see the waveform in the Timeline.

R8 - Scrubbing is possible. To get it working, load up a sound as you normally would as in R7. Now, make sure that the Speaker icon next to you Time Controls (default interface) is selected. If so, you're all set.

I got the bad news at postforum.

R8 is still "in the mail' so i am working with the waveforem, which is fine, but scrubbing would have been great.
