Very nice stuff there. Now if only I could UV Unwrap all my models in 10minutes, I'd be happy. lol
This will be greatly helpfull considering I have been building in primitives for a looooooooong time and just started poly modelling. I'll read thru it later :)

Great god, that's a nice model. It really reminds me of the bugs in Starship Troopers! :buttrock:
And I quite interesting tutorial, although I'd really like to see a detailled description on the interiors, all those ropes and cables and stuff, nice...

Hey great tutorial, I especially like how you did the Global illumination. I would like to see more people on this forum talk about how they light there models. One crit , it would be helpful to me if you went in and explained in more detail your unwrapping methodolgy, within the unwrap module I mean.
Very very cool thanks.

Excellent tutorial :) The pace was perfect in your explanations. Not to slow or bogged down with overly complex details but you made sure to cover all the important aspects of the process. Definitely one of the best tutorials I've seen in a long time.

Thank you all for you comments and crits. I really appreciate you guys for taking the time to do so.
Now some answers to questions:
ghZaaaRK: True, but this is more of a journal-like documentation. It's more applying the many internet tutorials to create a robot.
Jabo: The cables were very simple done. I rooted a spline through the inner mechanics, in and out of holes, and made a cylinder primative follow it's course by using a Path Deform Modifier.
Chudofsinister: Well, my UV Unwrapping has no set method, I basically pushed and pulled the vertecies around until the squares on the model straightened out as best as I could get them to. The UV Unwrapping took me 32 hours (not straight).
Opacity: or ßeta Model ;)
Once again thank you all for your comments.
My "Scaraß in Canyon" animation is almost finished and I shall post as soon as it's done.

Hey Rory
Great tut there, really enjoy seeing how other dudes get to the end product.
By the way, you say Dave Wilson was head of your department, does that mean that he has left Wicked Pixels?
