Amazing work Glenn, you have overpassed yourself with this one, congratulations. :applause:

Morning everyone!

Glenn - I'm really amazed to see how your piece is coming along, it's fascinating to see the close-ups and watch your progress

SaraD - great work with the face as always, now I'm curious to see what you do with the pelt...

eilidh - pretty much impressive for a quick copy, I like it

Enrique - your work with this terrible hat is as accurate and clean as the rest, respect again for your work with tiny details and your patience - can't wait now to see the colored version...

Well, concerning patience...I've lost all of mine with this Bashi-Bazouk, so I declare this version as the final:D ...

Sabrina - very nice presence of the fabric in the jacket!

I where about to go to Germany for the firs game, but I couldn't bacause my work , but every day I watch the games and I will be there in 3 days :D , I think that Germany have all to get the cup, you are who played better from the strong teams, I think that we surely will be at final quarters, from there I dont know.

Hombre, where in Germany are you going to be? Got tickets? Tell me everything...:)

Glenn,

there's so much detail to get lost into when viewing this. Wonderful.

eilidh - God, I wish I was that efficient... Great work...

Thanks for the input, everyone :)

DigitalSol, daWinky (and Rebecca) -- pretty much everyone who's taken that Bashi-Bazu is a brave soul in my eyes. ;) Good work! DigitalSol, I can barely keep my eyes off the folds of his coat. It has captured the silk's feel perfectly.

Mu, this looks very good -- is it Painter? I think I am having some trouble making it out.

Rebecca, has it been mentioned anywhere what the choices for OFDW 18 will be? Has it been determined yet, or are you still open to suggestions?

Rebeccak

Enrique,

Looking great, let's see that hat finished!

Sabie,

I think you did a great job here, please don't forget to post your hi~res version as a link as well. :)

Mu,

Nice progress on this, I would mainly suggest to concentrate less on textures and more on value structure. Texture is quite simple to throw on top at a later time, what will really make or break the piece is the quality of the value relationships. :)

eilidh,

I am still open to suggestions (and links!) :) for pieces ~ usually I find Master Works from ArtRenewal.org, since they generally have large / hi~res images for copying. :)

Cheers, :)

Sabrina, Thanks so much for your comments, I must finish this one within these days, because Im loosing my patiente too :D, your looks great, congratulations.

eilidh, Thanks a lot for your coments, hope to see you at 18's

Rebecca, Im on that right now :D

Hey Mu, this is the plan, Ill be there in about 2 or 3 days, :D, Im going with 3 friends, since there are no direct flight from Mexico to Germany, we will go first to Spain, where I have a brother living, we will take him too, and we expect to be there for Mex vs Portugal, I bought the tickets 1 year ago one Fifa's page. If we pass to the next round, maybe I will stay some more, maybe till the next 2 games, I have no enough money to stay more  today plays Mexico, VIVA MEXICO!!:buttrock:

Here is where Im at.

Enrique!

That match will be in Gelsenkirchen which is only 20-30km away from my place (Dortmund)!

When you are back from your match we could/should/have to meet in Dortmund, watch games together on the central square on these giant screens and party together...

that would be soo nice.

Make up your mind and let me know, man..!

Hi Rebecca and Everyone

Worked on details of elderly woman on left. Trying to get colors as close to the original as I can using my own eyes and own judgement. Bouncing around and refining details as I go along.

Mexico had it in their hands today, man, I guess they figured they will get at least another point in their game vs Portugal and that this would be enough for the round of sixteen.
There were some Mexican fans on our square watching that game, but they had nothing to celebrate...

awwwwwww.... can we say at least that one country is better than all the others...?

:scream:

Ah, we will have to wait til after the 9th of July for that...:D

afgal - you haven't stepped in this too far so my suggestion is: do it again without tracing because you will see a lot of good come out of that exercise and get a much stronger feel for your strength and weaknesses along with training your observational skills... all things that tracing does not provide...:)

Well done, everyone, on your incredible efforts in this workshop, and thanks to Rebecca for always being helpfully in the wings.

Here she is - my final Mona (actually Zorn's mother; I hadn't realised :) )

I can't say that producing it has been at all easy, but I managed something resembling a finished product, and all with no tracing or use of the eyedropper tool - all colours chosen by eye, and all body distortions are mine alone :)

womanonfire,

I think this is looking great! The main thing I would recommend is what I mentioned earlier, which is to possibly introduce a bit of dark blue into the cloth beneath the figure. Doing so might really complement the skin tones and bring the figure to life just a bit more.

Cheers, :)

Radical_Seifer,

Hey there, this is looking good, but I still think it has a bit to go before being considered 'finished'. :) The main thing that you might refine are the edges ~ the black of the background is jaggy and not meeting the edges of the figure. Don't go for speed on this, slow down, really look at the overall piece, and evaluate the areas that need to be fixed. Mainly I think cleaning of the edges and really getting a nice contrast between soft and slightly harder edges will do the trick. A small detail is the right big toe, which looks a bit cut off / crushed.

Looking forward to seeing your update! :)

Radical_Seifer,

No worries! :) Just relink your piece when you can. :)

SaraD,

The pelt is stunning! :applause: Only real crit is that the ground, by comparison, looks relatively plain. Perhaps a quick texture thrown overtop could break it up a bit? Up to you. :)

At any rate, would love to see an 800 pixel and hi res version linked here so that your piece might be added to the SPOTLIGHT thread. :)

Hi botched,

wonderful step-by-step: bookmarked for sure!

whenever I look at the following area of the painting I feel sick. I can see nothing there. It's just as if he had tested a little bit of abstract art in a hidden area of his canvas....

:banghead:

increasing values thus creating some highlights where the value relationship was accurate already.

Botched, Thanks for the tut really interesting.

Mu, Your painting is looking pretty good, the additional contrast that you are applying is really taking it to other level, great work there, sometimes you must to forgett your logic and not to paint clothes or object but shapes and lines, I think, great work overall, can wait to see it finished.

thanks Enrique!

I dont know if I will post an update tomorrow because I will watch Brasil vs Ghana in the stadium tomorrow and the next day I leave for a little holiday and will be back one day before the final...

...so next update on this could very well be after the WC.

toned down the contrast a bit, because it was a tad too much in the previous wip.

worked on the incomprehensible sack/bag/rag thingy...and the hands, and the hood. And the wall.

will it ever end?
