Hey everyone, I started working on this a few hours ago. I was reluctant to start because this would only be my second character I've ever modeled. The strange thing and cool thing about this model is that it is being done for a college course where we get to model a character and then print it out in 3d! So eventually this thing will be a little model, how cool is that hehe. Anyways I have to stick with some guidelines such as it has to be a water tight model and has to support its own weight yadda yadda. Anyways I started modeling the head tonight with this in mind., you can notice it especially in the eyes.

I'm really happy with how the head came out and tomorrow I'm goign to start/finish the upper torso. Any comments or helpful ideas would be greatly appreciated :applause:

btw I'm aware of the sub-par texturing etc as it is not the main concern here. Eventually after I get the model done and the class is over I will use it in an animation.

edit -- Gah forgot to say we get to print it out in a rapid prototyping machine :P

remember that there is no texture in rapid prototype. SO Define the anatomy more. post clear front 3/4 and side views if you want accurate critique on the dynamics of the face.

It doesn't look bad but bit dull and lacking a bit character at the moment.

What method of rapid prototype? EMS nylon print? stereo lithography?

I have made once "action figure" with my and my friends faces. It was on purpose very toyish and we had the idea of produsin a series of it so the mold restrictions caused limitations. But it is just great to build on screen and then have it in your hand.

I am going to work on the character more tomorrow, but I agree that It does need more character. right now its just the basic idea. The full character is due at the end of next week so I still have a little bit of time.

untill next update :wavey:

Hey I finished the basic layout of her but im still not happy with teh gun arm thingys, or whatever they are. I cant actually make hands because it would break off because of how small they would be. I had to make something sturdier but I'm not happy with the current design. Some parts will end up looking diferent by the time I'm done with it.

Its still not smooth etc and there is still a ton more to go with details etc

Anyways back to work:bounce:

Im sure you realize this but ill say it anyway... Make sure her feet are flat when you make the physical model.

Nice work. But Im not so sure I like the gun arms. Maybe if you made just one gun arm and change the way it looks.

Hey I came up with an idea for the model pose/scene.

I was thinking of having her come across some sorta of danger, something comical though. Maybe a giant red button that says do not push or a box that says do not open, something to that effect. This item of danger would be somewhere near the x. what do you guys think of the pose?

Ahh thanks :)

I'm actually going into my final semester at New York Institute of Technology..weeee fun

Anyways I started texturing the model but there is still much more to go. I havent swaped out the eyes yet with spheres yet, right now they are still attached and rather flat looking.

Comments are always welcome on how to improve the textures or suggestions on what would look good. :applause:
