Welcome aboard dude!

That's really impressive! Good linework but maybe you got to much details on your artwork and the girl can't really stand out against the background...
Try with an outline (a bit heavier than your linework) for the girl...but it's a matter of style now ;)

Cheers, and as allways: " keep postin' here pleaz , we all want to see more artwork over there !!!!"

Insane amount of detail! I could just stare at this for hours and find new interesting things and textures. Wow! You're a patient person. Your persistance and determination has paid off because that's a fabulous piece.

With the right colors I don't think the line weight would be such an issue. But it is difficult to read some parts in the B&W version. Then again ... I think that's half the fun of this one.

I especially love the ribbons and flowing dress. I hope you're going to color it. Check out the work of Barry Windsor-Smith (http://www.barrywindsor-smith.com/) for inspiration on coloring. Your style reminded me of his work.

thank you for welcoming me art7sayan,

Yes, i notice that too after u point it out. The piece is originally intended for colour rendition to bring out the content of the drawing. I do see your point in making the artwork look better! I am currently midway through another drawing. I have ideas that need to be churn out to paper from my cluttered brain. I will bold the outline hopefully to make it better.

I will go on posting and hope you will go on giving good advice on my postings.

Mangled Poly: Contest? That would be nice! But i do not know how to go about it. Maybe Senior member art7sayan can help direct the contest? It will also help me alot on how it will look like in different shades. A very good idea!

Thank you both again!

Hehe!

Just start a new thread with your artwork and name that thread "colorin' contest!"

Or ask to one of our moderator (Jeroentje, Kirt, Hawkprey) to make another -Forum Fun "colorin' time"-

That's all ;)

Cheers

Thank you Kirt,

I will take a look at the link you kindly posted. I hope i will learn something from from Mr Smith.

Thank you Kirt.

That was a very fast reply art7sayan!

I did not know it was that simple. But i feel my drawing is not good enough for such a contest. Maybe in future when i learn how to improve the drawings.

I think i will be around for a very long time!

Thank you again art7sayan.

But i feel my drawing is not good enough for such a contest. Maybe in future when i learn how to improve the drawings. You're kidding right? Don't be so hard on yourself. This is fabulous stuff. And I'll gladly post it up as a mini coloring contest if you'd like. We can't have enough activity around here to keep us all busy, right?

Kirt, are you the moderator Kirt?

IF you are; WOW!

This drawing is the second character in the series i'm working on. She is a Druid of the wild. (I know it looks half done) i thought i try making it lighter.

Crit would be much welcome.

OH MY *beep* *beep* *beep* GOD!!!

The details in both pics are ASTRONOMICALLY CRAZY!! You make very good use of line art and dotting techniques to stimulate the textures. Simply  ...

:applause: :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause: << This would be a standing ovation if the smilies had little feet.

Both illustrations are beautiful! Now we need more info ...
How long do you work on each of these?
What materials are used?
Do you have any colored illustrations you could show?
Where's your website?
Have you looked at the Barry Windsor-Smith site yet? I think you'll be surprised at how much the style is simular.

Welcome to CGTalk! I'm your newest fan!

Hi all!

PsychedelicMind & fireman: Thanks for posting. I am actually trying out styles to call my own. I will eventually go back to those two and touch it up, i doubt i can salvage those two since it is very difficult to re-ink over it.

Hello Moderator Kirt: Too long, i spend around 16 and 11 hours on the drawings! I will have to objectively come out with a work sheet on how to minimize unwanted wastages of time. I use Rotring pens to render on white drawing block. I cannot affort a website. I wish to thank Mr Busby of 3dbuzz.com for the webspace! I will post more on my quest for a technic i am comfortable with. I do not have any other drawings there but hope to remedy that problem very soon. Yes! i have visited the link you kindly posted. He is very gifted. I am honoured to be compared with such an illustrous figure!

I am currently drawing up another character. i will post it as soon as i finish it.

Hello,

Is there any comment on how i can improve it? Or the direction i should take.

Mangled Poly: I think i'm game for seeing it coloured too. What do you think i should do Moderator Kirt?

Last night i manage to frame out a scene for another character. This time its a male character, just to make a balance. I will try to finish it as soon as possible.

All crits on how to improve the above are welcome.

Okay, I'll take a stab at some critiques here. But I'm going to have to look really hard to come up with anything.

Pic 1)
For my tastes (and this is only me) There appear to be too many stars in the background. But since it is styilized towards the texture, and this is up there with some of the best Bookplate Illustrations I have ever seen. I don't think you should should change the stars.
Everyone else has commented on the wonderful textures and linework you show here so I won't say anymore there.
Two things really stand out.
The bright white circle on the right side of the pic. There is texture on everything except this and the skin of the woman. I think you should put more lines on the white circle to define it better.
And, did you sign this? I can't see you signature anywhere.

Pic 2)
Although your characters are not moving very much, you have done a great job to show movement through the hair and the clothing.
The only thing that I can't understand is where the clouds are and what they are doing in the background. Something is not quite right with them. But I can't tell what it is, sorry.

It is going to be hard to improve the illustrations, maybe a little touch-up, that's all.

As far as coloring, something subtle like watercolors is the best thing for illustrations of this magnitude. If you want to color it in the computer I recommend doing it this way also.

There's some crits and hopefully some helpful stuff.
Not much else to say so...

concerning the 2nd pic: shouldn't her right foot be partially visible behind her left leg?

I like very much how you render different materials :buttrock:

I.... LOVE... YOUR DRAWINGS!!!!

They have such a mood to them and they have such amazing detail that it's incredible!

I haven't done any 2D work for MONTHS now... but I'm so tempted to open photoshop and make something inspired by your work!

The wind blowing in the second picture adds so much to the drawing!

Very nice linework :applause:

Your textures are very well done, and all I can remark on is that you should now focus on improving your composition and anatomy. Beautiful work, beautiful work, I especially like the dragon

On a side note your work looks to be influenced by George Perez, your signature in your second piece is even remarkably similar to George's... Or is it an incredible coincidence :)

Hello All,

Dmcgrath: Thanks for your crit. All right, I will not change the stars. Yes I do find it hard to improve the first drawing. So, I presume that is complete artwork. As for the cloud for the second has a long story. I am still finding a way to draw a cloud. I have attempted a style, which I thought was nice but it came out funny. I stop midway through the drawing. Hmmm, I think I will complete it and post it here for crit? Than maybe you and all can see where I have done it wrong.

Yes, you crit have been helpful. Thank you.

DivideByZero: I am glad you like it. Moderator Kirt has posted an extreme color-me thread. Maybe you would like to try too? I am eagerly awaiting the outcome of the renders from my esteem cgtalkers here!

Stratobrain: When I block the drawing, I did observe the ankle and foot of the right leg. It was slightly shown in the pencil work but the line showed it to be merge with the left leg. So, I did ask my sister to stand that way to see if I can hide it behind the left leg. The result was it did hide it. Hmmm, it might take a rendered one to see if it will look odd. If it does, I will put that in just for the coloured ones. I will post it up here if anyone wish of it. I might have to add that on my current drawing.

That Adrian Guy: I am glad you like it.

Primus: Yes, I am still learning to draw human lifelike anatomy. It is not a dragon, more a cousin to the dragon. It is a wyvern, a less majestic and less intelligent than their greater cousins.
You notice my signature! You have keen eyes! 5 years ago, when I was little, my uncle bought me a comic book called the Crisis on Infinite Earth by George Perez. I was totally blown away by the artwork! I told myself I want to be just like him when I am grown up. I love his work so much I even copy his signature style because my name also starts with ‘G’. Sad isn’t it? I was a kid than, now it is stuck with me ever since.
